Retreat Days

Retreat Days at Trinity Catholic School

At Trinity Catholic School, we believe that education is about nurturing the whole person — spiritually, morally, socially, and academically. One of the key ways we live out our Catholic mission is through our annual Retreat Day programme for students in Years 7–11. Each year group takes part in a dedicated retreat day once a year, providing students with the opportunity to step away from the routine of school life to reflect, pray, grow in faith, and deepen their understanding of themselves and others.

Each retreat is carefully planned around themes that are appropriate to the age and stage of the students, helping them to engage more deeply with their faith journey and the values of the Gospel.

Year 7 – Advent: Preparing the Way

Our Year 7 retreat focuses on the season of Advent. As students begin their journey at Trinity, they are invited to reflect on hope, preparation, and welcoming Christ into their lives. Through prayer, reflection, creative activities, and teamwork, students explore what it means to prepare not only for Christmas, but also to become people of kindness, patience, and faith within our school community.

Year 8 – Vocations: Called by God

The Year 8 retreat explores the theme of vocation and God’s call in our lives. Students are encouraged to recognise their unique gifts and talents and to consider how they can use them in service of others. The retreat helps young people understand that vocation is not simply about careers, but about discovering who God is calling them to be.

Year 9 – Eastertide: Living the Resurrection

During the Year 9 retreat, students reflect on the joy and hope of Eastertide. Rooted in the message of the Resurrection, the retreat encourages students to think about renewal, forgiveness, and new beginnings. Through discussion, scripture, and reflective activities, students are invited to consider how they can bring hope and positivity into the lives of others.

Year 10 – Catholic Social Teaching and Pilgrimage

The Year 10 retreat centres on Catholic Social Teaching and the idea of pilgrimage. Students explore themes such as human dignity, solidarity, stewardship, and the common good, while reflecting on life as a journey of faith. The retreat encourages students to think about their responsibilities within the wider world and how they can become active agents of justice, compassion, and change.

Year 11 – Charity and Catholic Social Teaching

As students approach the end of their journey at Trinity, the Year 11 retreat focuses on charity, service, and Catholic Social Teaching. Students are encouraged to reflect on the impact they can have on others and the importance of living out Gospel values in everyday life. The retreat offers an opportunity for reflection on their time at Trinity, their future aspirations, and their role in building a more just and compassionate society.

Our retreat programme is an important part of life at Trinity Catholic School. These special days provide valuable opportunities for students to grow spiritually, strengthen relationships, and encounter the values at the heart of our Catholic community.
