Celebration of the Word at The Trinity Catholic School
At The Trinity Catholic School, we recognise that the life of faith is not something separate from education, but the very heart of it. Our students are called not only to learn about God, but to encounter Him in word, prayer, and action. One of the most vital ways we foster this encounter is through our regular Celebration of the Word.
Following the diocesan model of “Gather, Word, Response, and Mission”, we create opportunities throughout the school year for our community to come together in prayerful reflection, rooted in the Scriptures and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
- Gather – We begin by drawing together as the Body of Christ. Whether in a classroom, chapel, or assembly, we seek to create a space of welcome, unity, and quiet reverence, preparing our hearts to meet the Lord.
- Word – At the centre of each celebration is the living Word of God. Through the reading of Scripture, shared reflections, or the voice of the Church, we listen attentively for God’s message spoken into our lives today.
- Response – Having heard God’s Word, we respond in faith. This might take the form of prayer, silence, music, creative expression, or collective intercession. Our response is both personal and communal, expressing our desire to be shaped by Christ.
- Mission – Every Celebration of the Word sends us out. We ask: How will we live differently today because of what we have heard? We are reminded that God’s Word calls us to action—to be light in darkness, peace in conflict, and love where there is none.
To ensure that each Celebration of the Word is meaningful and accessible for all, we consider what our students and staff can:
- Hear – the voice of Scripture and the Spirit speaking today;
- See – through visuals, symbols, and space prepared with care;
- Think – by inviting stillness, reflection, and meaningful challenge;
- Do – through engagement, participation, and acts of faith.
At Trinity, our Celebration of the Word is not just an event—it is an invitation. An invitation to encounter Christ, to be transformed, and to carry His truth into every lesson, every friendship, and every act of service.
