Chaplaincy is a central part of our community here at The Trinity Catholic School, and we are lucky to have a thriving group of students and staff who support this. Our Chaplaincy Teams run throughout the whole school and are leaders and role models to others. We are also incredibly fortunate to have two Chapels here at school due to our split-site, and both of these are spaces that students and staff can use for quiet personal prayer or for form liturgies and Mass. We now are truly privileged to have the Blessed Sacrament reserved here in school, Christ’s earthly presence, which allows us to partake in Adoration and Eucharistic Services.

My name is Issie and I’m one of the Lay Chaplains here at Trinity. I started working here in September 2019 and have loved every minute of it! This year I am in 4 days a week, and spend a day a week in our feeder primaries to ensure that we have those strong links of transition. My favourite thing about working here is probably our trips to The Briars and our retreat days, both of these allow our students to experience faith in different ways and to understand just how powerful a thing it can be.

My name is Kieran and I’m one of the Lay Chaplains here at Trinity. I started working here in September 2023 and have had a warm and lovely welcome.
This year I am in for 2 days and some morning and afternoons as I spend the rest of my time in our Hub primaries to ensure that we have those strong links between all of our hub schools.
I am looking forward to going on our Briars trips and being able to guide our students to be the best they can be and to do so whilst learning about Christ.

My name is Beth and I’m doing the Chaplaincy apprenticeship course with the OLOL trust which means I get to work at trinity a couple of days a week. I started this placement in September and I’m really looking forward to working with everyone here at Trinity. Last year I worked at the Briars which was an amazing experience where I got to work with students from Trinity and so it’s lovely to see them all again this year! My favourite part of this job is simply getting to know all the students and staff here and allowing them to grow in their faith as well as learning from Issie and Kieran to help me grow in mine.

The Chaplaincy Team

The Chaplaincy Team is open to everyone in school regardless of faith and age and allows students to be leaders in the Catholic Life of the School. As part of the team, students plan and lead Acts of Worship, organise and run fundraising events for CAFOD, take part in the Faith in Action award and so much more. It’s a truly invaluable experience and provides an incredible service for others too. We are so proud of our Chaplaincy Teams here, and have even had previous members go on to work at The Briars Catholic Youth Centre in Crich!

Every year we take groups up to The Briars Catholic Youth Centre to spend a few days on retreat, stepping back and spending some time with God and each other. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect and reflect, and something that so many of our pupils have found beneficial both spiritually and emotionally. We also take groups on pilgrimage to Lourdes in the summer with the Diocese, fundraising to get there and assisting the sick and elderly whilst there. This is an incredibly rewarding trip for our sixth-form students and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Be still, and know that I am God
