The first KS3 DT rotations this year are coming to an end and pupils are beginning to take home the projects that they have been working on. A couple of Year 9 classes have been making lamps. This is a new project that was introduced this year.
The students learned some basic electronics which they then used when making the lamp. The shade and base were vacuum formed and then decorated, usually in the ‘Art Nouveau’ style. It has proved to be a popular project and some fantastic lamps have been made. The lamps use eco-friendly COB LEDs and run off just two AA-sized batteries.
