Here at The Trinity Catholic School, we have been thinking of ways to help our local community and key workers during this unprecedented time. We have an incredible body of staff who, as well as being amazing teachers, also have some amazing skills and talents and we also have a great school community who always come together to support each other, especially when we need it most!
A few things that we have been doing to help are;
Face Shield Making
After hearing about PPE shortages and seeing other schools contribute, Mr Stevens and Mrs Bator (and her son) came into school to make some face shields. Their target was 50. Using materials sourced within departmental stocks and new camping mats, they managed to make 120 shields. These will be used by members of our school community who are working within the NHS caring for Covid-19 patients in local hospitals. See photos of the face shield making process in the gallery below.
Thanks also go to Mrs Latimer-Newnham and her family who have been making face shields from home.
Headbands and Scrubs
Also helping out in school today, Mrs Wisdish has been making headband mask holders after her friend, who works at QMC, asked her to make some as the masks are incredibly painful on their ears when they’re wearing them all day. She’s also collected fabric, equipment and sorted materials for Mrs Bator too so that they can continue to make more at home. She’s also signed up to make scrubs to help with shortages there.
After putting out a request for food to provide for those that need it in our community during this time, the school was inundated and overwhelmed by donations in just four days, filling the Beechdale canteen. The food was sorted, packaged up and taken out into the community by members of staff where it was very gratefully received. Thank you to all those that donated food! We even had lots more food donated today, after our first delivery, which will be sorted through and distributed again.
Thank you to all of our staff for their continued commitment to helping our community and to everyone that donated food. Your time and energy is appreciated beyond words.
Stay Home. Stay Safe. Stay Faithful.
5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
