Teacher Training

Teacher training

At Trinity we offer training through many routes which include PGCE, School Direct and Teach First. We have a range of excellent subject mentors who are skilled at providing training and support for student teachers.

We work in partnership with the Universities to ensure student teachers receive quality assured practice. We truly value the importance of this critical year and we determine to support our student teachers in the full spectrum of practical, emotional and educational learning.

What our trainees say about us...

“When you train at Trinity, you receive quality support from your department and from the school coordinator. Trinity is an excellent place to train because the staff are willing to go the extra mile to help you be the best you can be.” Amy Hook

“Training at Trinity is great because you have the opportunity to interact with a diverse range of pupils from different backgrounds.” Grace Cole

“The staff are so welcoming here. Even if you do not know a staff member directly they will still say hello to you when you see them.” Ashley Ranger

What is School Direct?

Throughout your training programme, you’ll be given a challenging and lively blend of theoretical learning and classroom-based practice at one of our partner schools. Here, you’ll gain a full insight into current curriculum expectations, access up-to-the-minute thinking on teaching ideas and learn what turns a good teacher into a great teacher.

The School Direct route is one of the best ways to begin, or progress, your career in education.  School Direct is a practical route to gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).  Trinity School will provide you with an exciting and challenging blend of theoretical learning and classroom practice, preparing you to take on the challenges of becoming a newly qualified teacher.  You will work alongside and learn from outstanding practitioners in order to gain the knowledge, skills and professional attributes that will ensure lifelong success in a profession that will give you fulfilment and challenge every day.

Why train with Trinity School?

Trinity School is a high performing school recognised for its excellent academic standards and outstanding care and discipline. We are a caring community and work collectively to ensure that both students and staff are happy and flourish during their time here.

Our development and training opportunities are tailored to meet the needs of all our staff. The opportunities provided ensure that teachers and fellow professionals are supported to be the very best they can be. In addition, through our partnership with L.E.A.D. Teaching School Alliance and the University of Nottingham, we have developed a suite of training modules to add to the existing support and guidance that new teachers receive on entry to the profession. The training will focus on the demands of working in an urban context and is designed to strengthen your teaching repertoire and understanding of the school setting.

Our partnership with L.E.A.D. Teaching School Alliance and the University of Nottingham (an outstanding provider) will enable our School Based Trainees to gain the academic award of PGCE in addition to achieving Qualified Teacher Status.

We recognise the challenges that beginning teachers face in the changing face of education and that we must be constantly be alert to the new methods of teaching, the shifting emphasis in parts of the curriculum, the new discoveries and theories in understanding the learning process, and the advances in subject matter. We will support you wholeheartedly in your journey as a beginning teacher to creating your own classroom and professional style.
