School Closure January 2021

Dear Parents / Carers

Further to yesterday evening’s announcement from the Prime Minister, I regret to inform you that The Trinity Catholic School, will be closed to all pupils other than those the school recognises as vulnerable, and the children of critical workers. This comes into effect from today and is until at least until February half term; there will be more to follow on this I am sure.  The second significant announcement was that it is unlikely for exams to go ahead as planned this summer and that OFQUAL will be working on a suitable alternative approach. Unfortunately, that is all we know at this time. We will be in touch as soon as we receive more information.

One positive is that we are prepared for this and able to provide remote education for all of our young people. We will continue with our previous plan for all students to follow their in-school timetable and on Google Classroom. By the beginning of next week, we aim to be in a position for students in all year groups to have access to live lessons. It is important that students get into healthy study habits as early as possible with remote learning so we would ask that whilst working students are away from other distractions such as television, social media, video games etc… As I write this today we have been overwhelmed by the high levels of attendance and engagement in these lessons so far.

We will be recording how well students are engaging in remote learning using both positive and negative behaviour points to keep you in the loop. Whilst we understand that not all students are able to be live at a particular time it is expected that students complete any assignments set. If students are struggling with work they should contact their class teacher and if they have a specific IT problem, for example accessing Google Classroom, they should email our IT helpdesk at: covid-it@trinity.nottingham.sch.uk

Tomorrow there will be an online address from school for the students in Year 11 and Year 13 using Microsoft live events. You are welcome to join us for this or watch the recording later on.
