November Drama Mock Exams

Year 11
In November our Year 11 students performed their mock exam pieces in preparation for their exams next year. Performances ranged from the popular Godber’s ‘Teechers’ to some well-know Greek Tragedies; Antigone and The Burial at Thebes. Students also performed modern contemporary extracts and classic pieces, which included ‘The Memory of Water’ and ‘My Mother’.

Well done to all our students who worked hard rehearsing for their mocks.

A Level Devising Performance
In November Year 13 performed an extract of their devised work – which was influenced by the play ‘One Night In Miami’ by Kemp Powers which was performed at the Nottingham Playhouse last year.

‘One Night in Miami’ is the imagined story of what followed 22-year-old Muhammad Ali’s (Eli Goree) 1964 victory over heavyweight champion Sonny Liston. Sat ringside are Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr.) and Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge) who met one night in a hotel room in Miami.

This collaborative process was scripted, staged and directed by the students. This sharing of work was a chance for them to share a small piece of their work in progress, with a limited and socially distanced audience of staff and drama students from their year group bubble.  We look forward to seeing their finished devised piece in the new year.
