National Changes to the Awarding of GCSE Grades

Dear Students and Parents,

As you are probably aware an official announcement was made yesterday that all students in England will now receive their centre assessed grades as their actual GCSE grades. This is a change from the previous agreement whereby students were to receive a standardised grade based on the historical performance of the school. As a school, we are delighted by this announcement as it will, in our opinion, mean that students are rewarded with grades that are reflective of their true ability and commitment.

Please see the following link for the official announcement on the government website: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/gcse-and-a-level-students-to-receive-centre-assessment-grades

There is always a degree of anxiety for any results day but this year’s build-up has been incredibly challenging, hopefully this recent announcement will allow you to relax a little. The results will remain confidential until Thursday’s results day which will run in the same way as shared in our previous communications. Please could I remind all students to bring with them any borrowed books or resources which must be returned by dropping them in the amnesty boxes as you enter the sports hall.  We look forward to seeing you on Thursday where we will be here to support all of our students in progressing to their next step in education, employment or training.

Yours faithfully
Mr Shenton
