On Tuesday 21st May, thirty Year 8 pupils spent the day in a TV industry workshop called Let’s Pitch It!.
Baasit Siddiqui, from the Siddiqui family on GOGGLEBOX, has set up Siddiqui Education and came to Trinity to run the workshop. The aim was for the pupils to create a TV show based on their own ideas. Maybe it would inspire the TV executives of the future!
The competition involves several schools in England. The winning team gets £50 vouchers and a trip to London to see where GOGGLEBOX is filmed. Their school wins state of the art digital equipment.
Three Trinity teams have been selected to have their presentation filmed to be sent off to the national finals.
Inventiveness, Imagination and Creativity
The pupils worked hard all day in teams of three. Everyone had inventive and imaginative ideas for interesting TV shows suitable for viewers of all ages. The top genres were game shows and reality TV – they were more likely to be selected for production.
They typed up their ideas and feelings into digital booklets. These then inspired team names and logos that represented their personalities.
“The students were an absolute joy to work with, so enthusiastic and committed throughout the day. They really did themselves and the school proud.” – Baasit Siddiqui
