Dear Parents and Carers
On 21st January we held our first remote parents’ evening with Year 11 and, bar a small blip that affected a handful of appointments, the evening was a huge success. We used a package called SchoolCloud which is very user friendly and we will continue to use this for the remaining evenings this year.
All parents will be contacted prior to their child’s parent’s evening with more details about how to use the system and how to make appointments. To ensure the evenings run as smoothly as possible, we have made the decision to suspend all teaching on the afternoons of the parents’ evenings, however the school will remain open for the students whose parents are keyworkers and those who are in the vulnerable category.
To spread these events more evenly across the week, we have made some alterations to the previously published calendar. Please see below the dates for this year’s parents’ evenings and on these dates, there will be no remote lessons from 1.15 pm onwards:
Y7 Parents’ Evening – Wednesday 24th March
Y8 Parents’ Evening – Tuesday 16th March
Y10 Parents’ Evening – Thursday 4th February
Y12 Parents’ Evening – Wednesday 10th March
Y13 Parents’ Evening – Tuesday 2nd March
Y9 Parents’ Evening – TBC
To help us to monitor the engagement in live lessons and better support those who are struggling, we will now be taking registers for attendance at all live lessons. Therefore, if your child is unable to attend a live lesson for a particular reason, such as illness or an appointment, please do let us know as you would have done previously by calling 0115 9296251 and leaving a message on the student absence line if necessary.
Thank you for all of the messages of support and thanks to our wonderful staff that you have sent in. I can assure you that they have been really well received. If you do have any messages to pass on to specific members of staff or the whole staff in general please use our contact email: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will make sure that they are shared.
To those of you who have been affected by the impact of COVID, remember that you will remain in our thoughts and prayers,
