After a long wait of two years, Trinity’s Music department were very pleased to once again offer their students the opportunity to perform to an audience in their ‘Evening of Music’ concert, held in the Kingsbury Hall. The concert was well attended by enthusiastic family members and friends and they were treated to an array of performances of an exceptionally high standard.
Opening and closing the concert was the school orchestra, an ensemble of students from Years 7 – 13 with their renditions of Game of Thrones, The Can Can, The Ashokan Farewell and the crowd-pleasing Sweet Caroline. The Swing Band performed to a very high standard, showing off not one, but three drummers in their repertoire. Adding to the programme were several smaller ensembles of strings and guitars who provided some beautiful melodic lines in Comptine d’un autre été and in Blackbird and On Golden Pond. They also accompanied several of the Year 11 students for who this concert provided a showcase for their GCSE composition and performance coursework. A number of original songs and solos were performed by their composers showing great expression and creative flair alongside some wonderful guitar, vocal and piano solos including Brighton Rock, Eruption, Hallelujah, Shallow, Never Enough and I Giorni.
The students supported each other, learning original music and accompanying their peers to a very high standard. It was an emotional evening for many parents and teachers, seeing and hearing the children performing again after such a long, enforced break from live music, and although many of the students were very nervous all of them performed very professionally. We look forward to many more musical events in the near future.
A special thank you to Mrs Wilkinson who compered the event. This is particularly notable as she is retiring at the end of this academic year and we wish her all the best.
Thank you also to the PTA for providing the interval refreshments and to all those who contributed to the appeal for Ukraine after the concert.
If your child is interested in learning to play an instrument or singing, or would like to join any of our ensembles, please get in touch with one of the music teachers.
