Year 8 Hagg Farm Trip
From Wednesday 29th February to Saturday 1st March, thirty four Year 8 pupils visited Hagg Farm this year.
For some it was their first visit but for most it was their second visit. With this in mind the staff had tailored the programme so that the pupils who had been before would experience new activities.

Wednesday
The group arrived at around midday on Wednesday 29th February. After a safety talk, fire drill and some vain attempts at bed making the group stopped for lunch. After lunch they were divided into their working groups and took part in some problem solving and team building activities.
Following the evening meal the group departed for their night walk and were able to do a bit of star gazing.
Thursday
The weather on Thursday morning was fantastic, very warm and sunny.
Two groups departed on the Fairholmes Walk which took them to the Lady Bower Dam where they saw the monument to the RAF as well as the monument to Tip the faithful dog.
Group 3 went caving and Group 1 went abseiling. Both of these activities needed courage and team work which was displayed by all group members. The groups rotated the activities in the afternoon.
The evening activity was entitled, ‘Mission Impossible’, which the pupils did find impossible although a few of them were almost successful but forgot that Mr Wilson had a torch!
Friday
The following day saw the groups rotate on the rock activities and orienteering was the new activity for all groups with a prize going to the fastest pupil to complete the course.
On Friday we had a visit from Mr and Mrs McMahon who joined us for the evening meal and stayed overnight. The pupils had to complete a ‘Journey Stick’, which would tell the story of their visit and experience at Hagg Farm. The group worked hard and the results were fantastic and the explanations given were superb. Mr and Mrs McMahon judged the best ‘stick’.
Saturday
Saturday morning meant a big clean up and the group worked really hard again and left the centre spotless. They returned to Nottingham very tired after a very enjoyable and educational trip.
