Trinity School Ski Club

Dachstein West 2011

The Trinity Ski Club will be travelling to Austria again in February 2011 to visit Dachstein West for the third time. We have been blessed on the previous two visits with excellent weather conditions for skiing with deep snow, mainly sunny skies and some real mountain weather despite mixed conditions in many other parts of Europe. This, coupled with the excellent hospitality we receive at the BSFZ in Obertraun and the superb facilities and accommodation, means, whilst it is tempting to visit a different resort, it is very hard to find somewhere better!

Great view

We have taken bookings from nearly sixty pupils this year from Years 7 to 13 and we are likely to travel on a double decker coach. In order to broaden participation in winter sports we will be taking trips to UK indoor snow centres and have been fortunate enough to secure funding from Sport England to help reduce the cost of these trips. (See below for details)

Sport England Grant

Trinity Ski Club has been successful in securing a Sport England Small Grant amounting to £9,700 which will be used to subsidise a number of visits to Tamworth Snowdome and Xscape in Milton Keynes.

Dachstein West 2010

Trinity School Ski Club returned to a ski resort in the Dachstein West region of Austria in February 2010. They stayed at a specialist sports facility equipped with hotel accommodation, sports halls, table tennis rooms, a climbing wall, sauna, and its own instructors.

This year we took around eighty students, including two groups of snowboarders. The snow was fantastic at the start of the week and the views amazing when the blue skies arrived. All the groups worked hard and made good progress and it was great to see students of all ages mixing so well together.

For a more detailed account of the trip read the Austria 2010 blog or take a look at the Austria 2010 gallery.

Some Interesting Dachstein West Links

A fantastic experience - a 'must do' before you leave school! Especially recommended for beginners but excellent for everyone.
