Austria 2011

Over the February half term the Trinity Ski Club returned to the Dachstein West region in Austria for a week of skiing and activities.

Around sixty students and eight staff travelled in a luxury double decker coach to a dedicated residential sports centre in the town of Obertraun in the Austrian Alps. The centre has its own equipment hire and instructors as well as five fully equipped sports halls, a table tennis room, a fitness centre, a sauna and more. The food and facilities are first class and the safety, organisation and reliability the centre offers really help to make the trip a success.

The students and staff were split across seven ski groups, each with its own instructor and the groups enjoyed six full days of skiing. The conditions were excellent with fresh snow during the week and bright blue skies to finish it off. The pistes were fantastic and not too busy, allowing all the groups to make good progress and to experience a good range of slopes and lifts.

The ski trip is one of the few school trips where different year groups mix both for the activities and for social time. Many of the students commented on how great it was to be able to make new friends from within Trinity and hoped to be able to maintain their friendships on their return to school.

The students were excellent company on the trip, attentive and well behaved, and should be very pleased with their progress and maturity. The staff were able to rely on the students' positive attitude and sensible behaviour, even when our coach broke down on the ferry, leaving us stranded in Dover for three hours!
