AS MUSIC OUTLINE
UNIT ONE – INFLUENCES ON MUSIC
- The Western Classical Tradition – two movements from a Mozart Symphony.
- Musical Theatre – a study of the musical from 1940-1980.
This is assessed through a listening examination.

UNIT TWO – CREATING MUSICAL IDEAS
(compositional techniques, free composition, pastiche or arranging).
30% of AS/15% of A2
UNIT THREE – INTERPRETING MUSICAL IDEAS
- Solo and ensemble performing.

A2 MUSIC OUTLINE
UNIT FOUR – MUSIC IN CONTEXT
- The Western Classical Tradition – studying one of two set works (Mahler and Vaughan Williams).
- Chamber Music from Mendelssohn to Debussy.
This is assessed through a listening examination.

UNIT FIVE – CREATING MUSICAL IDEAS
(compositional techniques, free composition, or arranging)

UNIT SIX – A MUSICAL PERFORMANCE

Opportunities
There are many extra-curricular opportunities at Trinity, including:
- Concert Band
- Swing Band
- Chamber Choir
- Brass Group
- Trinity Strings
Further Information
We hold four large-scale concerts a year, plus many smaller events such as A Level recital evenings, so there is plenty to get involved in.
There are good facilities in the Music Department, including a Music Technology Suite with Cubase, Sibelius and Reason.
No exams will be taken in January for AS or A2 Music.
