The Catenians Present a Gala Concert in Aid of Sick and Retired Priests
On Friday 23rd March, a special concert was held in the new buildings at The Becket School, for retired and sick priests.
The three local Catholic schools Trinity, Becket, and Christ the King, were invited to contribute musical items. The items were introduced by Dominic Heale who presents the local news most days at 6.30pm on BBC East Midlands. Dominic said a little about the music as he introduced the items, as well as something about the schools. He had a warm, charming and good humoured style, the ideal compere!

Sick and Retired Priests
Priests have to work until they are 75 and even then receive quite low pensions. Bishop Malcolm asked if money might be raised to help with this situation. So a local branch of a Catholic organisation called the Catenians organised a concert.
Trinity's Repertoire
Trinity had a number of performers, including the ever reliable school Swing Band and a strings duet who completely wooed the audience when they played Czardas. The Boys Vocal Group sang “Imagine” and a 60s melody. The finale saw almost all the musicians together and there was a rousing finish with ‘You Raise Me Up’.
Appreciation
The event raised well over £800 and there was a huge appreciation for all the efforts made, especially as Trinity had their Spring Concert the night before.
