World War 1 Talks
Continuing the annual tradition, Mr Stevens from the DT Department is running some workshops in May and June for all the Year 10 History students on the First World War (his hobby).
The workshops involve learning about trench warfare with a short presentation and video before the students are able to look at Mr Stevens’ ever expanding private collection of relics and artefacts.
The students can look at, pick up and try on many items such as shells, grenades, bayonets, helmets and items of uniform. (All the relics shown are de-activated and are safe for the pupils to handle).

Further Study
The talk also gives some background to a few of the places that will be visited on the school’s trip to the battlefields of the Great War which will take place in July.
Mr Stevens will also be running these workshops for some Year 8 classes who study WW1 in their History lessons.
