Faith in Practice
Opportunities
Trinity offers a wealth of opportunities for those who want to put their beliefs into practice, with liturgies, charitable activities, retreats, clubs and more all contributing to a community where faith is put into practice on a daily basis.
Take a look at some of the ways our students and staff have helped make our school a place where we think of others and try to make a positive difference to the world around us:
- Deanery Celebration: Trinity Sunday saw the inaugural Nottingham West Deanery community event. It took place at Trinity School and was attended by all the parishes of the Deanery.
- Year 7 Charities Week: Year 7 Charities week ran from April 26-30th to raise money for LEPRA. They have raised approximately £1650 which is a phenomenal sum and collections are still ongoing.
- Year 9 Options Talks - Vocations - Year 9 pupils continued thinking about careers, GCSE options and their futures with an assembly delivered by Father David Cain on Vocations.
- Year 12 Charity Quiz: As part of the Year 12 Summer charity campaign, Mr Harbage's form orgainsed a quiz evening on Thursday 9th July. The quiz was a roaring success; with over fifty people attending more than £220 was raised.
- Charity Talent Contest: On Friday 10th July the Lower School Talent Show final commenced. An audience of over 100 pupils and teachers came to show their support and each act delivered a great performance.
- The Shepherd Club: Students from Years 7-9 have been spending one lunchtime a fortnight at The Shepherd School. A Deputy Headteacher there has spoken of the 'genuine buzz' around the school about the Trinity students, and this is very much to their credit.
- Shepherd School Experience: This year at The Shepherd School, many pupils from Y7 to Y10 have been involved in activities to improve the relationship between our two schools and to establish friendships in the groups with which they worked.
- CAFOD Fast Day: Students have bread instead of their usual lunch and donate the money they save to CAFOD. They also learn about living sustainably.
- Race for Life: A team from Trinity took part in this event, raising money for Cancer Research.
- Easter Egg Raffle: In March the Christian Conversation Club drew their Easter Egg Raffle. Pupils had donated lots of eggs and the RE department were very 'eggcited' about having the chocolate within reach.
Masses and Liturgies
Celebrating and praying together.
- Summer Liturgy: Trinity's Summer Liturgy, with a theme of 'Celebration and Praise', was held in the sports hall on Thursday 22nd July.
- Ash Wednesday Liturgy: Year 11 and Sixth Form students lead liturgies for the rest of the school.
- Start of Year Mass: The whole school filled the sports hall to dedicate the year's work in a celebratory mass.
- House Masses: Students from each House came together to celebrate mass and give thanks for their many talents.
- Year 7 Liturgy: The year group came together in the social area to pray for their exams and to reflect on their time so far at Trinity.
- Year 9 Liturgy: Year 9 gathered together in February in the Upper School Social Area to celebrate a Liturgy of Reconciliation.
- Year 11 Liturgy: On Tuesday 10th November the whole of Year 11 gathered together to take part in a liturgy which was led by Mr Nicholson. The atmosphere was respectful and prayerful and everyone took part.
- Sixth Form Liturgy: On Tuesday morning, April 28th, the Sixth Form gathered in the sports hall to celebrate a short liturgy that focussed on the upcoming exams.
Retreats
Taking time out to explore issues related to faith, friendship and community.
- Year 7 Advent Retreat: Our annual retreat took place on November 27th and was an excellent opportunity to stop and consider the true meaning of the season rather than focussing on shopping, presents and the season's fashion in Christmas trees!
- Year 8 Reach4 Retreat: On Monday 21st June the whole of Year 8 and their form tutors were off timetable to explore the theme of modern discipleship with the diocesan Reach4 team.
- Year 9 Briars retreat: Our Year 9 students have just returned from their annual weekend visit to the Briars retreat centre in Crich where the theme for the weekend was 'Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus'.
- Year 10 Reach4 Retreat: On Tuesday 27th April the Year 10s were off timetable along with their form tutors to take part in a retreat led by the diocesan Reach4 team. The theme was 'decisions'.
- Year 11 Briars retreat: An opportunity for the students to explore some of the issues that affect them, deepen their relationship with God, worship in new ways, make new friends and strengthen their friendships with each other.
- Sixth Form Briars retreat: October 2008.
