Welcome
Hello, welcome to the Extended Schools web area. The Trinity cluster of schools includes:
- Trinity Catholic School
- St Teresa's Catholic School
- St Margaret Clitherow Catholic School
- St Augustine's Catholic School
- Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Catholic School
Our aim is to provide a range of extended school services by working in partnership with other agencies. We want the services on offer to be what is wanted and needed by parents, children and the community. Please let us know what you would like and we will do our best to provide it or find out where the service is available.

Your School Nurse is Deborah Lee. Go and see her, in a confidential environment, to discuss any health concerns, information or to find out where else to look for advice.

Arts Award
Trinity Education Improvement Partnership has won £275 in prizes as part of the Nottingham Society of Artists' annual Schools' Art Exhibition.
The work was produced by pupils from five primary schools - St Margaret Clitherow, St Teresa's, St Augustine's, St Mary's Hyson Green and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour. Following an arts workshop (see below) during the half-term at College Street (funded by Extended Schools) the work was on display in a city centre gallery.
Exciting Arts Workshops
Almost sixty children and eighteen parents/carers attended a free arts workshop at College Street, the local authority arts centre, during the June 2010 half term, funded by the Extended Schools programme.
School-Home Support Newsletters
Natasha McCormack works as a School Home Support Worker at St Teresa's and at St Augustine's. She has produced some newsletters explaining her role and highlighting opportunities and offers available to pupils and parents.

Maths Course for Parents
In June, New College Nottingham ran a course called 'Keeping Up with the Children in Numeracy' to give parents a greater understanding of the maths being taught at school.
Sports Activities - Half Term and June

Easter Workshops
Thirty pupils from our Cluster schools in Years 6 and 7 attended the three day workshops to create short performance pieces from a variety of well known plays.
February Half-Term Workshop
Children from our Trinity cluster of schools attended a two day workshop of drama and singing during the half term break.
Projects with Primary Schools
Trinity Education Improvement Partnership is involved with a number of exciting projects with our partner primary schools. These include storytelling activities and art workshops.

Parentline Plus
Parentline Plus can offer ongoing support for you to help cope with everyday challenges and demands of parenting.
My daughter thinks I'm her worst enemy but really I'm on her side.
Extended Telephone Support - ETS - offers up to six, one to one telephone calls, at a time that's convenient to you.
They're nearly teenagers - how can I keep them safe?
All telephone workers are parents themselves and have been trained to offer this kind of support to parents.

What are Extended School Services?
By 2010 all children should have access to a variety of activities beyond the school day. Well organised, safe and stimulating activities before and after school will provide children and young people with a wider range of experiences and make a real difference to their chances at school. Not all activities will be on the school site, but in the geographical area.
An extended school is one which provides access to a range of services and activities, often beyond the school day, to help meet the needs of children, parents and the wider community.
Benefits to the Children
- Opportunities for fun and developing new skills
- Supports improvements in educational standards
- Promotes confidence and motivation
- Offers opportunities for parents to be involved in their children's learning
- Encourages community participation in activities and develops stronger communities
The Core Offer
Quality Childcare and A Varied Menu of Activities
- Childcare must be available from 8.00am to 6.00pm, five days a week and 48 weeks a year, if there is a demand from parents
- Childcare must be of a high quality and accessible to all children
- Childcare may be on the school site or in the geographical area
- Secondary school aged children must have access to a safe place out of school hours
- Catch up and homework clubs should be available to those who require them
- Arts activities such as drama, dance and crafts
- Sports activities (up to 2 hours a day for those who want it)
- Brownies, Cubs, Guides, Beavers and other clubs
- Activities at school and in the geographical area
Swift and Easy Access
- Early identification of children with additional needs
- Close working with other agencies to support children
- Working with families to undertake a Common Assessment Framework (CAF)
Parenting Support
- Information sessions for parents when their children join reception and transfer to secondary schools
- Information about local and national sources of support, information and advice
- Structured parenting groups and informal opportunities for parents to engage with the school and each other
- Family Learning sessions to allow children and parents to learn together
- Parenting support may take place in school or in the local area
Community Use
- School facilities to be available to the wider community, where this is possible and needed
- Facilities may include ICT, sports and arts
- Community access to adult learning
Developing Extended Schools
We are in the process of developing our extended school services, as a cluster of schools. We would like to include the views of as many parent/carers and children and young people as possible, to ensure the services we develop are responsive to need.
