Able Writers’ Day
On 23rd September David Harmer, the children’s writer, visited Trinity to deliver an Able Writers’ Day. In total, thirty-four students from five of our feeder primary schools and Trinity enjoyed listening to David perform his work, and then were inspired to write for themselves.

Encouraging, Constructive and Challenging
David has published many collections of poetry, and he lectures in Creative Writing at Sheffield Hallam. He gave the students a firm structure to start their writing, and then lots of encouragement in the writing process. He was fun to listen to but also constructive and challenging in his comments on the writing.
When finished, excerpts of the Trinity students’ writing will be online for all to read. Watch this space!
Thank You
Thanks must go to David for a great workshop, and to the primaries for sparing their students and staff. They were a credit to their teachers and hopefully will spread the good practice back in their schools.
