DT - Textiles
Who says that boy's can't sew?
The new Year 8 puppet project in Textiles has been a big success in its first rotation. Students designed and made a puppet for use in a children's play-group. The puppets are designed to use in story- telling activities. The project has strong links to English and Drama.
The students really exercised their imaginations to create characters for their puppets. They also had to learn a range of Textiles skills and processes such as hand sewing, machine sewing, gathering and embroidery, to bring their designs to life.
The boys definitely shared the same enthusiasm and skill level as the girls. It's great to see stereotyping banished and the boys on top form with a needle and thread.
