Drama and Performance Studies

GCSE Drama Mock Exams

On the 19th and 20th of October Year 11 presented performances to their family and friends. This was in preparation for their Performance Exam in March 2012.

They performed extracts from a range of plays from Bouncers to Shakers. The pupils performed a total of eight extracts from a version of Sophocles' Antigone "The Burial at Thebes" to "Scary Play", performed at the National Theatre in London.

October Performances

The performance evenings also included more contemporary style extracts from John Godber's 'Shakers'. Four waitresses introduced us to the highs and lows of serving in a cocktail bar. Full of instantly recognisable characters these scenes were acted with energy and flair.

One play, "Up 'n' Under", follows the story of an inept pub team from the Wheatsheaf Arms pub in a rugby league sevens competition in Kingston upon Hull in England. Ex-pro Arthur's only passions in life are his wife and rugby league. When he hears about the 'Cobblers Arms' pub team and their corrupt manager, Arthur bets his life savings with Reg Welch that he can train any team to beat them.

Thank You and Good Luck

Thank you to all those family and friends who supported both evenings and we wish the students luck in their exams.
