Duke of Edinburgh's Award
In April, thirty two Year 10 students completed a two day expedition in the Sherwood Forest area.
On Monday 12th November Trinity was proud to host the Nottingham Duke of Edinburgh's Award Presentation.
On 24th March, Year 10 students undertook their Duke of Edinburgh's Award training walk in the Vale of Belvoir.
About The Scheme
Here at Trinity we currently run the Silver Award. This is direct Silver, which is a bit like doing Bronze and Silver in one go.
There are four main sections to the award:
|6 months||One section for 6 months and the other section for 3 months||Plan, train for and complete a 3 day, 2 night expedition|
|Direct entrants must undertake a further six months in the Volunteering or the longer of the Physical or Skills sections.
So, you need to do one section for 3 months, one for 6 months and one for 12 months. The volunteering must for at least 6 months.
Throughout these you need to show regular activity and commitment of at least an hour a week. You can't achieve an Award in a short burst of enthusiasm over one weekend!
Why do the DofE Award?
On the DofE Award you'll enjoy loads of new experiences, discover talents you never thought you had, challenge yourself and meet loads of people just like you. Plus you'll do things you love and get a kick out of. It's a real buzz!
Then there's all the other stuff...
- like the fact that achieving an Award will give you skills, confidence and a view on life that everyone is looking for, from employers to colleges and universities.
- you're getting recognised for doing things you want to do (and may even be doing already).
- plus you'll make a difference to other people's lives and your community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends and have memories to last you a lifetime.
- And above all, it's a great laugh!
The question should really be why wouldn't you bother!
When Can I Join?
Normally in May of Year 10 you will hear about it. Mr Miller organises all of the DofE activites, so you can see him for more details.
