Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Awards Ceremony
After over a year's hard work six more pupils have passed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
The awards evening was held at the council house on Market Square on 9th November and was introduced by Mr Alwyn Foster, Chairman of the City of Nottingham Duke of Edinbrugh's Award Committee. The Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Mrs Jeannie Packer, then presented the awards to all of the young people from all over the city.
Several guest speakers spoke of their experiences and gave encouragement to the award recipients. Speakers included Sqn Leader Graham Duff (Royal Air Force Acrobatic Team - The Red Arrows), Mr Mike Evans (Regional Manager, Football League Community Programme), Mr Graham Moran (NCFC Director, Forest in the City Project) and Mr Alistair Conquer (Head of Curriculum Services, Nottingham City Council). Some of the award recipients spoke of their experiences of the award and one of the recipients from Nottingham Acadamy demonstrated her skill of singing to us - she was amazing!
Well done to all of the students and a big thank you to all the teachers and volunteers that have helped with the award and to Mr Miller for organising the award in school.
