Students completed one unit of work for the coursework element of the course, with the theme in Year 13 chosen by the student themselves so that they can pursue their own interests.
Students embarked on their themes by visiting London art galleries and recording their experiences in the form of drawings and photographs. Students responded to work from other artists and designers then experimented with their ideas to produce a final outcome in either 2D or 3D, making connections to the artists researched at the start of the unit.
Students were also required to write an illustrated assignment (1000-3000 words) to support their individual themes. The examination unit centres on the theme of ‘Exploration and Discovery’.
